We're moving to the Big Screen

I was SOOOOOO thrilled to see the movie "Conversations with God" (from the famous book by Walsh) playing at our local Regal Cinema!  It seems that the spiritual message is inching its way into mainstream theaters!

Of course, the movie "The Secret" was a big success too.  Largely due to the Internet, it snowballed into an overnight success.  And then there was "What the Bleep Do We Know", another excellent film that was shown on the big screen. 

But there was something special about this particular movie.  First, I had planned to go see it alone.  My hubby is not into the "spiritual stuff" at all and he had turned down my offer to come see it with me.  But the funniest thing happened...I got to the theater and there was a LINE!  That was very cool as I thought I might be the only one there.  Then I realized I might not be able to get a ticket, as it was nearing the start of the show.  Fortunately, someone came out of the theater and said they had a machine inside for credit card purchases.  I eagerly went in.

But as I opened my purse, I realized that I had left my wallet at home!  I had no cash, no debit card and certainly no credit card.  For a split second, I was upset.  But then I thought that I had already got a lot of goodies already, from the lovely walk downtown (it was an AMAZING fall day) to the thrill of seeing a big line of people there.

So I headed back home.  As I drove, I realized that I was angry, but not about the movie.  I was rather upset that my hubby had not wanted to accompany me.   Then I realized that I had  not been very clear on the fact that this was more than just a movie for me, hence it had a deeper emotional content.  So that evening, I shared that with my hubby and he was happy to go out to dinner and go see the movie!

Now that was a first in itself.  I was QUITE delighted.  But there was more...The film itself is about Walsh's life (which I didn't know), so it was very  interesting for both me and my hubby.  It was really great for me to see people like me on the big screen (and by that I mean the "weirdos who hear voices"), making a statement that is not only ok but really awesome.

And, I have to admit, that it always makes me feel warm and fuzzy when I think about the fact it was filmed around here.  I felt that too with "What the Bleep", where I was sitting in the very theater where some scenes had been filmed!  I like the thought of being surrounded by my spiritual community, right here at home :)

Looking forward to seeing "Conversations with God" released in Australia. A friend recommended the book to me and it changed my life. I'd always talked to God but never really thought that I was having a conversation with Him/Her. I realised that my questions had been answered every time, and everything I'd asked for I always received (not instantly as I wanted but when I was ready to receive).
